FURTHER PROGRESS: BOAL GROUP'S 2023 SUSTAINABILITY MILESTONES AND CO2 REDUCTION

This report showcases the company’s achievements in environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and robust governance, emphasizing its ongoing commitment to sustainability and its ESG goals.

Significant Achievements in 2023 

The 2023 Sustainability Report reveals several key accomplishments: 

  • CO2 Emissions Reduction: Achieved a 5% reduction in CO2 emissions per tonne of aluminum through investments in energy-efficient technologies. 

  • Renewable Energy: Installed 1,400 renewable energy solar panels at BOAL Systems and switched to 100% green electricity for the UK plant . 

  • Product Innovations: Introduced the sealant-free Easyjoint coupling for recyclable insulation panels and launched an enhanced accordion netting system for energy-efficient and biodiversity-friendly crop protection . 

  • Health and Safety: Implemented unified BOAL Group’s safety standards to minimize workplace incidents and injuries .

Advancing ESG Strategy and Goals 

BOAL Group remains dedicated to its sustainability journey, with ambitious goals set for 2030. Looking ahead, BOAL has established robust ESG objectives for 2024, which include: 

  • Further reducing Scope 1, 2, and 3 CO2 emissions: Continued efforts to reduce emissions through energy efficiency and renewable energy investments.  

  • Transparency & Reporting: Implementation of Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for aluminum profiles and start preparations for the Aluminum Stewardship Initiative (ASI) and Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi). 

  • Improving product environmental impact: Focus on designing sustainable products with reduced environmental footprints, such as low carbon and recycled content aluminum products and the continued development of climate screens with a significant portion of recycled materials. 

  • Advancing employee development and safety: Enhanced health and safety standards, an comprehensive onboarding programs for new employees and the implementation of a full-fledged HR-system. 

  • Customer Satisfaction: Continued emphasis on product quality and durability to exceed customer expectations, while further intensifying partnerships with stakeholders by joint innovation.
